Welcome to our classroom blog!  We are going to have a ton of fun this year writing about what we are doing in third grade.  This blog is awesome because you can share it with your family and friends.  We will be able to post pictures, too.  How cool is that?

Green Thumbs in Third Grade

Today, we had the opportunity to put our green thumbs to work. We planted Marigolds outside the enterance of our school.  Everyone had a chance to plant their own flower.  We even had extra time to pull out some nasty weeds.  Now the school looks beautiful and we are proud of our hard work.  Good job, third grade!

Conner Prairie Field Trip

We stepped back in time during our field trip to Conner Prairie.  Their interactive history park taught us all about life in the 1800's.  We even learned about Native Americans and early settlers from our community.  Some of us helped solve a mystery, others were a part of a day in a one room school house, while others became part of the troops during the Civil War.  Fortunately, we had nice weather and a very enjoyable day.  We are so lucky to be able to visit this wonderful place!

Indiana Ice

Over the past few weeks, we have been lucky to have players from the Indiana Ice hockey team visit us. The players came as part of their Reading Caravan program.  During each visit, the players read a few books to us and then talked about what it is like to play hockey for the Ice.  They also brought in pieces of the equipment to share.  Our students always had great questions for the players.  We all enjoyed the visits very much.  We look forward to following our new friends throughout their hockey season.  To find out more about the Indiana Ice, check out their website at http://www.indianaice.com/
